The Gymshark App

Shop. Train. Engage.

I was approached by global fitness brand Gymshark in 2018 to design and deliver the UX and UI for their first smartphone application.

The initial version of the Gymshark mobile app combined fitness e-commerce with digital training, allowing users to browse and shop for Gymshark fitness apparel while also accessing a library of curated workout programmes created by Gymshark athletes.

Additional features enabled users to create and manage personalised workout routines, track their progress over time, and engage with event listings and editorial fitness content — all within a single, cohesive app experience.

Although I initially advised the Gymshark team against merging shopping and training functionality into one product, the final result delivered a clear, consistent and engaging user journey. Since then, Gymshark has successfully split this experience into separate Shopping and Training apps, which was the right long-term decision. However, the UX foundations and interaction patterns I designed remain integral to both products.

This project continues to be one of the pieces of mobile app design work I am most proud of, showcasing my experience in fitness app UX, e-commerce design, and scalable product thinking.
